🦓 Zebra Thermal Printers — ZPL & PDF

Free Zebra Label Generator

Zebra printers are the standard equipment in warehouses, logistics, and retail. There are two ways to use them well: send a PDF and let the printer behave like a regular printer, or send ZPL commands and let the printer work in its native language — sharper output, faster processing. This tool supports both formats. Generate labels in bulk from CSV or Excel, at 203 / 300 / 600 DPI, with no driver installation and no account required.

Why Use Our Zebra Label Generator?

Native ZPL II Export

Outputs raw ZPL commands directly — copy the file and send it to your printer via USB, Ethernet, or the printer's web interface. No PDF conversion, no quality loss, sharper than any rasterised output.

📐

Thermal Label Size Presets

Built-in presets for 4"×6" (Rollo / UPS / FedEx standard shipping label) and 2.25"×1.25" (small product tag). Enter any custom width and height in mm for non-standard label stock.

📋

Bulk from CSV / Excel

Upload your SKU list or barcode spreadsheet and generate hundreds of ZPL labels or a print-ready thermal PDF in one click. No row limit — process 10 or 10,000 values at once.

Generate Zebra Labels in 3 Steps

1

Upload Your Label Data

Paste barcode values one per line, or upload a CSV or Excel file. Select the column containing your barcode strings — SKUs, serial numbers, tracking codes, or any text value.

2

Choose ZPL or Thermal PDF

ZPL gives native resolution and the smallest file size. Thermal PDF is more portable and works with any print driver. Pick the format that fits your workflow.

3

Set DPI and Download

Select 203, 300, or 600 DPI to match your Zebra printer's print head, or use a preset. Click Generate and download your ZPL file or thermal PDF — ready to print immediately.

Also supported

Rollo & SATO

Rollo X1038 and SATO printers also accept ZPL commands. The ZPL files generated by this tool are compatible with all ZPL II-capable devices regardless of brand.

Supported DPI Settings

  • 203 DPI

Standard quality — suitable for ordinary 1D barcode labels such as Code 128 and Code 39 on labels 1 inch tall or larger. Smallest file size and fastest print speed. Used by the majority of shipping and logistics labels.

  • 300 DPI

High quality — recommended for smaller label sizes, QR codes, Data Matrix, or labels that include small human-readable text. Most Zebra ZT and ZD series printers support 300 DPI. A good all-round choice for retail product tags.

  • 600 DPI

Ultra-high quality — for precision-critical applications such as pharmaceutical labels, jewellery tags, or very small label formats under 1 inch. Print speed is slower; check that your Zebra model supports a 600 DPI print head before selecting this option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool generate true ZPL for Zebra printers?
Yes. Bulk Barcode Generator exports native ZPL II code, not a PDF conversion. The generated .zpl file can be sent directly to any Zebra printer via USB, Ethernet, or the printer's web interface. It is compatible with ZD, ZT, GX series printers and other ZPL-compatible devices including Rollo and SATO.
What DPI should I use for Zebra barcode labels?
203 DPI is sufficient for standard 1D barcodes like Code 128 on labels 1 inch tall or larger. Use 300 DPI for smaller labels, QR codes, or labels with small text. 600 DPI is for high-precision applications such as pharmaceutical labels or very small label sizes.
Can I generate ZPL for thermal labels in bulk?
Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel file with your barcode values, select ZPL export, set your DPI and label dimensions, and download a single ZPL file containing all labels. There is no row limit — print 10 or 10,000 labels from one export.
What label size is the ZPL export set to?
The default thermal preset is 4"×6" (102×152mm) at 203 DPI — the standard shipping label size used by UPS, FedEx, and Rollo. You can set a custom width and height in millimetres for any label size your Zebra printer supports.
Can I also get a PDF instead of ZPL for my Zebra printer?
Yes. If you prefer printing via a PDF viewer rather than sending raw ZPL commands, Bulk Barcode Generator also exports a thermal-size PDF at the exact label dimensions. This works on any Zebra printer using the standard USB or Windows print driver.
